TWO DAY FIBER OPTIC CABLING, SPLICING, AND JOINTING TECHNICIAN TRAINING COURSE:

*****PRACTICALLY LEARN HOW TO SPLICE AND JOINT FIBER OPTIC CABLING TO BECOME A FIBER INSTALLATION ENGINEER*****

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course give attendees the key skills to install, fibre optic links. As required by contractors working in the industry building GPON networks. Preparing participants to do the job for real in the work place..

The course is suitable for individuals who want to start working in the fibre industry for a contractor or those working in the industry who wish to improve their fibre skills. So that they can progress into fibre cabling and jointing for a contractor.

This course is a practical hands on based programme. With almost everything other than the essential basic theory being practical exercises running TWO DAYS. Giving learners additional time to practice the skills learned on day one..

This programme will give learners the key skills fibre of splicing, and terminating. This course is practice based supported with comprehensive training notes.

You start with an introduction to fibre showing how fibre works, its benefits and how to calculate loss budgets. The purpose of which is to get you to understand the effects of work not done properly. That a right first time principle can only operate in this environment.

ESSENTIAL THEORY COVERED:-
  • Safety general for training location dealing with fibre.
  • Safety Considerations in the work place.
  • What is fibre optics and how does it work.
  • Wavelengths of light that are used.
  • Different fibre optic cables and where would they be used.
  • How to splicing and joint fibre and connector types.
  • How fibre cables are installed with correct cable management.
  • Introduction to Fibre certification and testing.

You follow that with hands on splicing during which you will make an in-line joint, a patch panel and a fibre wall box. Also you will learn all the tips and tricks of how to use a splice cleavers and splicing machines quickly to get the best results every time. Including the essential maintenance of the equipment and which tools to use. Finally you go on to learn how to clean and inspect connectors, complete basic testing for fault finding and certifying work and mechanical splicing..

This is a Two day course that starts off with the essential safety considerations, with an overview of the essentials of the technology that needs to be understood. .

Followed by a series of practical exercises to prepare for individuals to complete these tasks in the work place. Such as the preparation, stripping, splicing, of fibre optic cables and securing them away.

When you are with us you will work with qualified instructors that have worked in the industry doing the job they are teaching you to do. They will teach you in as realistic a work environment as can be.

Our centre has been put together with a practical working area, designed to ensure you gain the maximum benefit from this course. This course runs for an additional day so that learners can gain more practice of the skills learned on day one.

PRACTICAL TRAINING OVER TWO DAYS
  • Fibre & Cable Preparation – Preparation of a cable ready for splicing and jointing, including cable sheath removal, buffer tube removal and fibre cleaning.
  • Connector Cleaning and inspection – The best ways to clean connectors using a visual inspection system and microscope.
  • Splicing Practice – How to operate and maintain a fusion splicer and cleaver.
  • Preparing and splicing a cable onto pigtails within a typical fibre patch panel
  • Use of a Visible Light Source to check continuity and fault find – A basic but important tool for fault finding. And finally ILM testing
  • Mechanical Splice On Connector Termination – How to terminate a FAST Mechanical Splice optical termination used on FTTH drop installations.
